"Are you a good witch or a bad witch?"
—West

West, played by Ana Ularu, is a character in Emerald City

In the world of Emerald City[]

"I have powers you can't even fathom."
—West

West is one of the Cardinal Witches, together with her sisters: Glinda and East.

After the Wizard banned magic from Oz, West found a new career - she runs a brothel in Emerald city. She also services the clients herself.

When East is killed and brought to the Sacred Temple to be buried, Glinda asks West to sing their sister to rest.

Glinda also suspects West has become addicted to Opium and she's correct: West has been using Poppy Tea to soothe her nerves.

Episode One and Two[]

West runs a brothel in the Emerald City and is quite content with the fact that the Wizard banned magic. She drinks a lot of poppy tea to keep herself from overthinking things. When there's a 'magical' disturbance in the East, the Wizard comes to her for answers.

She feels Easts' true death and cries on the street with grief. When Glinda brings Easts' body to the Emerald City for the funeral, she asks West to perform the funeral ritual. West does it, but needs to get high on poppy tea to do so, which Glinda openly despises.

Episode Three[]

West ep 3

After three prostitutes from West's brothel commit magical suicide, the Wizard and Anna pay her a visit to check if she's responsible. West admits to the Wizard she's completely broken after the tragedy that was Beast Forever, when many powerful Witches died drowned and their magic couldn't help them.

Episode Four[]

West arrives

West visits one of Glinda's orphanages and fights with her Northern sister over Tip, whom she finds fascinating. After showing transmutation magic to Tip, she wins him over.

Powers[]

West is a Cardinal Witch, meaning she possesses magic beyond precedence. Her powers include:

  • Telekinesis
  • Transmutation
  • Teleportation
  • Precognition

She's also quite reluctant to use magic and she's happy the Wizard outlawed it.

In the works of L. Frank Baum[]

The Wicked Witch of the West was allergic to water and died when Dorothy threw a bucket of the liquid at her to put out the fire.

Contrary to popularized depiction, the Wicked Witch of the West was never described as having green skin in the novel.

She was a ruler of the Winkie Country and used winged monkeys to terrorise her subjects. She was not related to the Witch of the East, but sometimes aligned with her to wreak havoc.
